Elon Musk’s The Boring Company has said it is starting construction on three passenger tunnel schemes, with the full cost covered by the company.

The plans cover NOLA Loop in New Orleans, Ravens Loop in Baltimore and University Hills Loop in Dallas. Each project is designed to move passengers in cars along underground routes.

The Boring Company is also weighing up two additional tunnels: Hendersonville Utility Tunnel in Tennessee and Morgan's Wonderland Tunnel in San Antonio. Delivery of these proposals will depend on the outcome of a feasibility assessment and on securing every required permit. If they are approved, the company says it would fund construction of these tunnels as well.

These moves continue The Boring Company’s approach to expanding underground transport infrastructure, aimed at cutting surface-level congestion and speeding up passenger journeys in major US cities.
