Will it be a ‘mini-Scénic’? The updated 2024 Renault Captur is on the way.

The current-generation Renault Captur, on sale since 2019, is gearing up for a significant update during the first half of 2024.

Thanks to a leak of images from the patent register, it is now possible to see what are set to be the most important changes to this model-at least in terms of exterior styling-which will bring it closer in line with the rest of the French brand’s range.

Much like the Clio, which was refreshed recently and given a more assertive look-more in keeping with Gilles Vidal, Renault’s new design director-the Captur will move in the same direction, losing some of the softer, more rounded surfaces that have defined this generation’s shape.

The most noticeable alterations will be concentrated at the front, where the updated Captur will adopt several of the solutions Renault has recently showcased on the Scénic E-Tech, which we have already driven.

The lighting signature will be far slimmer and split into two sections; the Renault badge in the centre will be smaller; and the grille will be much narrower and more horizontal, while the bonnet will be flatter.

From the side and at the rear, however, very little is expected to change on the new Captur, aside from the bumpers and, most likely, the wheel design.

Renault Captur: What changes inside?

As for the cabin, these patent-register images do not reveal anything. Even so, judging by what happened with the Clio, we can expect Renault to thoroughly revise the Captur’s materials and finishes, which should take a clear step up in perceived quality.

On the mechanical side, major changes are not anticipated either, with Renault continuing to back one of the segment’s most varied engine line-ups.

At present, the Captur is sold on the Portuguese market with petrol, Bi-Fuel (LPG) and hybrid versions, and that should remain the case going forward.

When does it arrive?

The refreshed Renault Captur is set to be unveiled in spring, and it would surprise nobody if the French brand chose the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland, at the end of February, for the reveal.

As for its arrival in showrooms, that should follow a few months later, around the summer.
