Almost without ghosting on RX 6000
As AMD continues to delay releasing FSR 4 for previous-generation graphics cards, enthusiasts are still taking matters into their own hands. The Optiscaler software team has delivered a major update aimed at improving how FSR 4 works on older GPUs.
The FSR 4 build used by Optiscaler comes from a leaked FSR 4 version that relies on INT8 rather than FP8 - a numerical format that is widely supported on older graphics cards. This is the key limitation that has stopped AMD from bringing FSR 4 to earlier generations. Even so, the enthusiast community has demonstrated that it can be made to work. Officially, it is worth reiterating that FSR 4 remains exclusive to Radeon RX 9000.
With this update, the developers have addressed issues related to so-called ghosting on RX 6000 series cards, meaning the upscaler should now be much more pleasant to use on older models. That said, the team cannot promise ghosting will never appear anywhere at all, but it ought to be significantly reduced overall.
