A new mid-range tier from Samsung
After a run of widespread leaks, Samsung has now formally unveiled the Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A37 smartphones. The pair stick closely to the look and feel of their predecessors, but bring upgraded build materials, refreshed platforms and a set of AI features. Camera changes are modest. Sales begin on 10 April, although pricing has not yet been announced.
Samsung Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A37: chips, cooling and durability
The Samsung Galaxy A57 is powered by the 4 nm Exynos 1680 system-on-chip and uses a vapour chamber that is 13% larger to improve heat dissipation. It also switches to a metal frame and is rated IP68, compared with IP67 on the Galaxy A56.
The Galaxy A37, meanwhile, is based on the Exynos 1480 SoC (the same as in the Galaxy A55). Unlike the A57, it uses a plastic side frame. The Galaxy A37 measures 6.9 mm thick and weighs 179 g, while the Galaxy A57 comes in at 7.4 mm and 196 g. The younger model also carries an IP68 rating.
Display and battery
Both phones feature 6.7-inch Super AMOLED displays with Full HD+ resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. Each model has a 5000 mAh battery and supports 45 W wired charging, reaching 60% in 30 minutes.
Cameras and AI features
On the imaging side, both devices include a 50 MP main camera and a 12 MP front camera. The key difference is the ultra-wide module: it is 12 MP on the Galaxy A57 and 8 MP on the Galaxy A37. In both cases, the third rear camera is a 5 MP unit dedicated to macro shooting.
The Galaxy A57 adds several AI functions, including expanded Best Face processing, automatic video cutting via Auto Trim, an improved Object Eraser and a voice-recording transcription tool. Both smartphones ship with One UI 8.5 on Android 16 and are set to receive updates for 6 years.
