The standout benefit of the MacBook Neo is its keen pricing. However, a YouTube video has also shown that Apple’s new laptop is remarkably straightforward to repair thanks to its internal layout.
In March, Apple rolled out a string of product announcements, including the MacBook Neo. With this model, the Cupertino company is effectively creating a new category: a budget-friendly MacBook designed to go head-to-head with affordable Windows laptops and Chromebooks. Unsurprisingly, that positioning comes with compromises-most notably the use of an iPhone A18 Pro chip rather than a processor developed specifically for Macs. Even so, those trade-offs allow Apple to list the MacBook Neo at €699.
Beyond the lower price, the MacBook Neo has another advantage that Apple did not highlight during the launch: it is also very easy to fix. Shortly after release, the YouTube channel TECH RE-NU took the MacBook Neo apart. The video points to a modular internal design and components that can be removed very easily using standard screwdrivers. “We can see a complete absence of stretch-release adhesive strips and glue, a battery held in place by 18 screws, and a tiny motherboard,” the channel reports. The teardown took less than 10 minutes.

Another plus point for the MacBook Neo laptop
For now, it’s unclear how well the MacBook Neo will sell. That said, even with an iPhone-derived chip inside, Apple claims the MacBook Neo is “up to 50% faster for everyday tasks, such as web browsing, and up to 3 times faster when running AI tasks such as applying advanced effects to photos compared with the best-selling PC equipped with the latest Intel Core Ultra 5 processor”.
Apple also says the MacBook Neo comes with a brighter display and a higher resolution than most PCs in its price bracket.
