Finding the right laptop is never straightforward: how do you spot a genuinely good notebook, and more importantly, which one best matches what you actually need?
Buying a portable PC can quickly turn into a headache. Which model should you go for? Which brand has the range that fits your use? And do you really need a dedicated graphics card, or can you do without?
In this guide, we’ve picked out six standout laptops released in 2025. Some are built for gamers, others for life on the move, and a few aim to do both at once. This year delivered plenty of impressive machines: Asus, Razer, Apple, Acer, Lenovo and others have clearly pushed hard to win us over.
Below are the editorial team’s six favourites from 2025, along with what they do well-and where they fall short. Let’s get into it.
MacBook Air M4 (best laptops 2025 pick for Apple fans)
For Apple devotees
Let’s address Apple upfront: the company sits slightly apart from the broader PC world. Even so, it treated us this year to a truly high-end MacBook Air M4-boasting a stunning display, a powerful processor, and above all a design that prioritises lightness and slimness. It’s a dependable choice.
Apple’s MacBook Pro line also had its moment in 2025, notably with the release of a model equipped with the M5 processor. If you’re committed to Apple and want the absolute best, that’s the one to consider.

Razer Blade 16 2025
The best of the best
Razer thoroughly reshaped its line-up at the start of the year, and the first model to showcase the changes was the Razer Blade 16. With a brand-new ultra-thin chassis, a finally redesigned keyboard, and a superb 240 Hz OLED screen, it also brings serious hardware-going up to an RTX 5090. Every slider is pushed to the maximum, delivering what is, so far, the finest gaming laptop we’ve seen.
There’s just one catch: the cost. The most basic configuration (with an RTX 5070 Ti) is listed at €3,000. Quality comes at a price-this one is for anyone ready to splurge.

Asus Zenbook A14
The ultimate in thin-and-light
One of this year’s biggest surprises is the Asus A14. It commits fully to ultra-portability, measuring just 1.59 cm thick and, more importantly, weighing only 980 g. In a bag, you can barely tell it’s there. It’s a beautifully crafted design, made even more premium by its ceraluminium chassis. The strengths continue with a very nice OLED display.
Its main drawback is performance. Powered by a Snapdragon X processor, it won’t set benchmarks alight. That said, for quick on-the-go office work, it’s more than adequate.

Asus ProArt P16
A serious rival to the MacBook Pro
Staying with Asus, the ProArt P16 shows the Taiwanese manufacturer going all-in: a slim design, a top-tier screen, and-crucially-proper performance thanks to a GeForce RTX 5000 under the bonnet. It’s a laptop aimed first and foremost at creatives who need plenty of muscle.

Acer Predator Tritton 14 AI
The compact laptop that can do it all
Ultra-portable or gaming laptop-why choose? Acer’s Tritton 14 AI blends the best of both worlds. You get a thin, lightweight chassis and a quality 14-inch OLED display, but also a GeForce RTX 5070 graphics card to work… or to play. Half gamer, half serious, it’s an excellent companion if you want one machine that handles everything in a compact format.
Its extra flourish? A stylus is included, letting you draw on the trackpad. A genuine success.

Lenovo LOQ 15
Best value for money
Who says you have to empty your wallet to play on PC? With the LOQ 15, Lenovo delivers an affordable laptop that still packs a punch. We like its well-judged performance, a chassis with a full set of ports, and a price that stays within reach: €1,300 with an RTX 5060-more than enough to enjoy the biggest games on the market.
Of course, compromises come with the territory. The display, for instance, feels old-fashioned, and the chassis is made from slightly cheap-feeling plastic. At this price, though, those flaws are easier to forgive.
