Nissan Qashqai 2026 gets new e-Power and lands in Portugal in Q4 2025

The Nissan Qashqai is due for an update and already has a confirmed arrival window for Portugal. The launch is scheduled for the last quarter of 2025, although the headline news is not the date.

Nissan’s compact SUV will be the first to introduce the third generation of the e-Power hybrid system, which the brand says is more efficient, more powerful and quieter.

Unlike most non-plug-in hybrids, this setup works like a 100% electric car that happens to be fuelled by petrol: the wheels are driven only by an electric motor, while the petrol engine’s job is solely to act as a generator (it is not connected to the wheels).

More range, lower consumption in the Nissan Qashqai e-Power

With the latest e-Power generation, the Qashqai 2026 posts lower fuel use and emissions than the model currently on sale. Consumption drops by 0.6 litres per 100 km to 4.5 l/100 km, while emissions fall by 14 g/km to 102 g/km (down 12%).

These improvements are largely down to the new combustion engine (the generator), which is now far more efficient. In fact, its 42% thermal efficiency is currently the highest among any petrol engine on sale. Even so, it retains the same core layout-three cylinders, 1.5 litres and turbocharging-though Nissan says it is an all-new unit. The current model’s complex variable compression ratio system has been dropped, replaced by the STARC combustion concept.

Greater efficiency is paired with stronger performance. The new “5-in-1” electric system (combining the electric motor, inverter, reduction gearbox, among other components) is now rated at 151 kW (205 hp) (205 cv) - 15 hp (15 cv) more than before - and in Sport mode it can provide up to an additional 10 kW (14 hp) (14 cv). The battery remains at 2.1 kWh, and total range could reach 1200 km.

On top of that, servicing intervals are also being extended: from 15,000 km they will move to 20,000 km.

Further changes

The upgrades are not limited to the powertrain. The Nissan Qashqai 2026 also receives a notable technology boost. The ProPILOT driver assistance system has been revised, now delivering improved performance on multi-lane motorways.

The infotainment system switches to a Google-based platform, offering direct access to Google Maps, Assistant (with voice commands) and the Play Store. Another new feature is Nissan Trip Stories, which lets users record and share journeys through the NissanConnect Services app.

When does it arrive?

As noted above, the new Nissan Qashqai is set to arrive in Portugal in the last quarter of 2025. No prices have been announced yet.
