Hyundai has already outlined the key highlights of its presence at the Brussels Motor Show, running from 9 to 18 January. The headline act will be a brand-new 100% electric model, officially billed as the largest electric vehicle ever added to the South Korean brand’s portfolio.
In a statement issued by Hyundai Motor Europe, the company says this newcomer will broaden its existing electric range, which currently stretches from the compact INSTER to the huge IONIQ 9.
For now, Hyundai is keeping the essentials under wraps: there is no confirmed name, no body style, and not even a clear indication of where it will sit in the line-up. Based on the teaser image released, one possibility is an all-electric version of the sizeable Staria - a giant MPV we have already had the chance to drive.
That idea would not be entirely out of left field, given that a Staria-based vehicle already exists in Europe in van form, sold as the IVECO eMoovy, thanks to the partnership agreed between Hyundai and IVECO.
We will have to wait for the Brussels Motor Show doors to open for definitive confirmation, but Hyundai has stated that it will use an 800 V electric architecture - a solution that supports rapid charging and improved energy efficiency.
Hyundai IONIQ 6 makes its European debut
Alongside this all-new reveal, Hyundai will also present its refreshed IONIQ 6 in Europe for the first time, bringing updates focused on aerodynamics, the cabin and its digital systems.
According to the brand, the revision is aimed squarely at energy efficiency and the on-board experience. For those after something more adrenaline-led, there will be a dedicated area for the N division, featuring the IONIQ 5 N and IONIQ 6 N.
Also planned is a more conceptual space inspired by the INSTEROID - a design exercise based on the INSTER that we had the opportunity to see in person at IAA, the Munich Motor Show.
