New Mercedes-Benz GLC 100% electric available to order in Portugal from 78,000 euros

Officially unveiled in September, the new 100% electric Mercedes-Benz GLC can now be ordered in Portugal, with prices starting from 78,000 euros.

From the outside, the new SUV stays close to the combustion-engined GLC, although it introduces distinctive touches. One of the most notable is the oversized front grille, a nod to the brand’s heritage that is now purely decorative - and it can also be illuminated.

Compared with the combustion GLC, the electric GLC provides an extra 4.7 cm of rear legroom on the second row. It is also 13 cm longer (4.85 m), 2.3 cm wider (1.91 m) and half a centimetre taller (1.64 m). The wheelbase grows by 8.4 cm (2.97 m) as well.

Inside the cabin, the headline option is the vast 39.1″ (99.3 cm) Hyperscreen - the largest ever fitted to a Mercedes-Benz model.

As standard, the Mercedes-Benz electric GLC comes with three separate displays: one for the instrument cluster, another for the infotainment system, and a third dedicated to the front passenger.

Mercedes-Benz GLC electric: up to 707 km range

Built on a new 800 V (MB.EA) electric platform, the GLC debuts a new generation of motors and batteries, with technology shared with the new CLA.

The launch version, the GLC 400 4MATIC, uses two electric motors (one on each axle) for a combined output of 360 kW (489 hp).

Performance matches the specification: 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3s and a top speed of 210 km/h. A 94 kWh usable battery delivers up to 707 km of combined range (WLTP), with consumption of 16 kWh/100 km on the WLTP combined cycle.

When it comes to charging, the GLC keeps pace with key rivals. On DC charging, it can regain up to 303 km of range in just 10 minutes, or go from 10% to 80% in around 22 minutes under ideal conditions.

A further four electric powertrains are due to be introduced, with the first two reaching the market at the end of next year.

How much does it cost?

As noted above, the Mercedes-Benz electric GLC has arrived in Portugal and is on sale from 78,000 euros.
